The Quarters Drinking Game is well known throughout the world, only it’s not always played with quarters. The idea is that a group of players will gather around a table with drinks in hand, and a shot glass.  For example, watch this guy with a really bad haircut fail miserably at his one attempt after explaining how to play Quarters:

Players will take turns attempting to bounce the quarter off the table and into the shot glass. This requires a certain amount of skill and is similar to skipping rocks. However, the basic theory here is that you use the flat side of the quarter and bounce it just right of the table to make it angle up and into the shot glass.

When a player fails their attempt, they must drink. When a player makes the shot, they can order everyone else to drink. Players that get their quarter in the glass three times in a row are permitted to make a rule. Rules can include requiring all players to refer to the rule maker as Master, disallowing certain words on penalty of another drink, or anything they can think of that the group is still sober enough to at least try to obey.

The Quarters Drinking Game is fun, but the winner of the game depends on your perspective – the winner could be the drunkest person, or it could be the least drunk…you decide.

IRISH QUARTERS DRINKING GAME

The Irish Quarters Drinking Game is a “Spin off” – literally – of the regular Quarters Drinking Game. In Irish Quarters, you’ll probably get drunk a lot faster, however.

The object of the game is to spin a quarter or other coin on its end. While it is still spinning – and with the same hand, no less, – the player must consume their own drink, refill it, and then grab the quarter before it stops spinning. If the quarter stops spinning before hand or the player knocks it off the table or something, then the player must start over and do this until they get it right.

If the player is able to do this successfully, then they’ll only have to drink one drink per successful turn. The object is to get the least drunk. Or the most drunk. Whatever, just have fun.
