Game Description: High Low is a great game that’s simple to play. Players don’t have to spend a lot of time getting acquainted with the rules, so High Low is perfect if you just want to start playing immediately or you don’t have a lot of time to play at all. As the name suggests very succinctly, players are to guess the value of the cards by predicting if the next one drawn be high or low in relation to the card that preceded it? A game so simple in its ambit that you’ll be staggered by how many hours you and your friends can happily pass the time playing it. As there is a fairly even chance of getting the guess correct or incorrect, this game can be medium sipping with a fair amount of drinking involved.
Number of Players: Minimum of three.
You Will Need: Beer, pals, a full deck of cards and plenty of time to play away with this awesome game.
How to Play: Assign one of your players the role of dealer, who is to shuffle the cards and select the starter card, place it on the table and ask the next player, “High Low?” The player then guesses if the next card the dealer will draw will be higher or lower than the card before. Of course, there are penalties in the form of drinks for incorrect guesses…Decide before you start playing how heavy you want that drinking levy to be. Sip or shots? The choice is yours. Just play fairly and responsibly!
Rules of the Game:
Decide amongst the players before you start how many drinks/sips will be assigned to each drinking penalty.
INCORRECT GUESSES: A player that incorrectly guesses if the card is high or low in relation to the past card gets a DRINK as a penalty.
CORRECT GUESSES: A player that correctly guesses if the card is high or low in relation to the past card gets a free pass onto the next player.
IF THE VALUE OF THE CARD IS THE SAME AS THE PREVIOUS CARD: If the card is a nine and a player guesses high, only for the following card to also be a nine, the player has to keep going and take another guess and card until the value is a clear “higher” or lower” number than the previous card.
FIVE CONSECUTIVE CORRECT GUESSES: A player that makes five consecutively CORRECT guesses you get TO BE DEALER and draw the cards until the next player beats you and steals your glory and replaces you as dealer Being dealer is considered an honor in this game, so revel in the accomplishment while you can!
You Lose: If you guess wrong the most – opting for low when it is high, or high when it is low. The loser of this drinking game can be determined through deciding which player has guess the most incorrect times, or is the most drunk or quite possibly (and most likely) both!
