Drinking Games A-Z: Five Heads

The Five Heads coin drinking gameFive Heads is a relaxed coin drinking game that works really well in a friendly neighborhood bar, with a similarly friendly bartender.

Sip Score: ** (Light-Sipping game)

Game Description:  Toss the coin and remember that certain numbers of heads mean DRINKS!

Number of Players Minimum of four

You Will Need:  Coins, drinks and a friendly bartender

How to Play: Sit around a table with some shots in the center. Decide who goes first out of all the players. When you’ve agreed on the running order, the first player flips a coin and has to catch it, best of three. All players should look at the coin for the first (and subsequent) tosses. For the first toss, if the coin says heads, the throwing player has to say “one head.”If it is tails, he said “zero heads.” Each player gets a best of three, so the first player need to flip the coin again and declare “two heads” if the second throw is heads or “zero heads” if it is tails. Then, on the third toss, “three heads” if it is heads or “zero heads if it is tails. Each player takes a turn to do this with best of three coin tosses and adding increasing the number of “heads” with one each time a head is thrown or keeping it “zero heads” if a tail is thrown. If the coin is not heads (i.e. it is tails), then the number of the last heads’ toss is repeated. Things start to get a little interesting when the first player gets to “five heads.” Follow the rules below to continue playing…

Rules of the Game:

FIVE HEADS: When a player gets to ‘five heads,’ the player who tossed the fifth head nominates a shot.

TEN HEADS: The player getting the tenth head nominates a second shot.

FIFTEEN HEADS: Equals a mixer to be chosen by the player tossing the fifteenth head.

TWENTY HEADS: The player getting the twentieth head has to go and buy the two shots and the mixer from Five, Ten and Fifteen Heads.

TWENTY-FIFTH HEAD: This player has to DOWN THE COCKTAIL IN ONE.

IF A COIN HITS THE ROOF AND IS CAUGHT: The player can nominate a player to immediately DRINK!

You Lose:  If you get the Twenty-Fifth head and have to down the double shot and mixer.

Safety Disclaimer: Five Heads is a really enjoyable drinking game that can be a lot of fun if played sensibly with a group of adults of legal drinking age. As this game is best suited to a bar setting, make sure that you don’t leave your drinks unattended. It is also imperative to arrange a sober ride home for all players and it is best to make the plans for this before things get wild and the game is in full swing. It might be a good idea to pre-book taxis for all players at a certain time in the evening that you all agree will mark the end of the game. Never, ever drink and drive or get into a car with a driver who has been drinking. Enjoy the game, stay safe and HAVE FUN!
