Boat Race is a drinking game that calls for speed and skill in equal measure.
Sip Score: *** (Medium-Sipping game)
Game Description: It’s a race, so the emphasis is on fast drinking between teams while following the rules of game play and abiding by the penalties and punishments that apply.
Number of Players: Minimum of four, split into two teams.
You Will Need: Chairs (one per player), a whole lot of drinks and a healthy competitive attitude.
How to Play: Split the players into two equal teams and assign each player their own cup or mug and a chair. Align each of the chairs into two rows, side-by-side to mimic the shape of a boat. Then, with the boat assembled and the competitors seated in their teams in the order of race, fill each mug equally with booze or give an unopened beer to the first two opposing competitors. Now start the race and…DRINK! Competitors put their empty cups on their heads to show they have successfully drunk all of the booze. Then it moves onto the next row of opposite competitors, and so on. The winning team is the one whose players finish their drinks the fastest and have all of their cups on top of their heads!
Rules of the Game:
UNFINISHED CUPS: These will be spilled when the competitors try to raise them over their heads. This incurs a penalty of downing an amount of booze roughly equal to ½ a cup, or more if more was spilled.
DO NOT START DRINKING UNTIL THE PLAYER AHEAD OF YOU HAS BALANCED A CUP ON THEIR HEAD Penalty = ½ cup of booze for non-compliance!
Players must be seated in ‘the boat’ when drinking the beer.
You Lose: If the other team gets all of its cups balanced on their heads before you. But the beauty of this game is that it can be played over and over again, so just try again starting at the beginning and going down the line again!
