Drinking Games A-Z: ABCs

How to play the ABC drinking gameThe ABCs drinking game is proof that the simplest drinking games to play when sober often become the most difficult to conquer when drunk!

Sip Score: *** (Medium-Sipping game)

Game Description:  A memory-based drinking game in which participants use their booze-addled brains to try to remember which words have been said by previous players. Mistakes mean DRINKS!

Number of Players Minimum of three

You Will Need Ample quantities of beer, friends and a moderate amount of functioning grey-matter between the lot of you. This game is SO much harder to play than it sounds after a few beers, but it seems to get even more fun as people forget and mess up.

How to Play: Sit down with your buddies and pour each player a drink. The first player chooses a letter of the alphabet and declares it to the group. Then, the first player chooses a word beginning with this letter and declares it to the group. The player then says something else to ‘distract’ the players from what letter/word he selected, perhaps a fascinating fact about something unrelated to the letter/word.  The next player then has to recall the letter and word by the previous player, then add his own letter and word. He then says something unrelated to the letter and word, and the next player continues to do the same; first recalling what ALL of the previous players have said, before adding his own letter and word and piece of trivia, etc. Each time a player misstates the letter/word or messes up…there is a DRINK penalty! The winners are the players who successfully recite all of the previous players’ letters and words.

Rules of the Game:  This game has a lot of flexibility. Participants can decide before the game commences how many drinks will have to be consumed each time someone messes up. Raise or lower the drinking penalties as appropriate; just make sure everyone knows the rules from the outset and agrees!

Some suggestions:

FAILURE TO REMEMBER A LETTER: Any player who fails to remember a letter incur a drinking penalty of one big gulp of beer per letter

FAILURE TO REMEMBER A WORD: Any player who fails to remember a word two big gulps of beer per letter.

You Lose: If you forget your ABCs and players’ words!
